The national data management centre for health (NDMC) has worked on setting its plans for the coming Ethiopian budget year on the 18th of June E.C. Making its core teams the major focus of the planning, the centre has made scrutiny on whether or not the plans made by teams are specific, measurable, achievable, and timely. Granted that some plans are extensions of the existing year’s plan, the centre has also set strategies to work on new plans which are presumed to go in-line with EPHI’s plans.
On the other hand, aiming to achieve a common goal, the four case teams of the centre have made their plans align together. Plan alignment, as explained by leads of case teams, is going to help the teams avoid duplication of tasks, and makes them help one another in conducting tasks with different expertise. Moreover, the plan alignment has been extended to sharing activities with other directorates of EPHI, the Ministry of Health, Regional Health Bureaus, and Health and Demographic Surveillance Sites of Ethiopia. Finally, after passing through these discussion points, the plan has been endorsed to be submitted to the planning office of EPHI.
The discussion was chaired by Dr. Alemnesh Hailemariam (Coordinator of NDMC), and the participants were Dr. Awoke Misganaw (Advisor of NDMC), Mr. Melaku Temeselew (Project Coordinator of NDMC), Dr. Asnake Worku (Lead of Data Repository and Governance Team), Mr. Wondesen Teklemariam (Lead of Burden of Disease Team), Mr. Amanuel Lulu (Lead of Evidence Synthesis and Translation Team), and Mr. Latera Tesfaye (Lead of Data Analytics and Visualization Team).
