Tracking progress in HIV/AIDS in Ethiopia across ages

Tracking progress in HIV/AIDS in Ethiopia across ages
October 6, 2021NDMC2019Evidence Briefs
  • Ethiopia still has large population living with HIV/AIDS and dying from HIV/AIDS despite the remarkable progress the country has made in reducing new HIV infection and prevalence rates.
  • Ethiopia widely uses the burden of HIV/AIDS among adults (15-49 years) for programmatic purposes and for tracking progress. However, recent evidence suggests the burden is distributed across ages
  • Using Global Burden of Disease 2017 data, a team from the National Data Management Center for health (NDMC) at EPHI has estimated age specific burden of HIV at the national level
