Burden of Neglected Tropical Diseases in Ethiopia

• NTDs are among top 10 major communicable diseases globally, causing 19 million Disability-Adjusted Life Years lost (DALYs) and 185,000 deaths in 2019

• Africa Accounts about 40% of global burden and 80% of the countries are at least co endemic to 5 NTDs

• Ethiopia is co endemic to at least 9 NTDs and more than 75 million people are at risk of infection

• Ethiopia have been implementing NTDs control and elimination programs since 2013, however, there is evidence gap on its burden and extent of change both at national and subnational level

• This study aimed to assess burden of NTDs, at national and subnational level interms of Mortality and DALYs between the years 1990 to 2021 using global burden of disease study (GBD-2021).
