Data to Action (DtA)

This unit aims to support evidence informed decision-making, policy analysis and public health practices in Ethiopia. The major activities of the unit are prioritization of national health evidence demand, generation and synthesis of demand-driven high-quality evidences, health policy analysis, evidence translation and dissemination, and evidence use tracking. Besides, it intends to maximize the application and use of evidences at all levels, and indeed the ultimate goal of this is to give inputs for decision makings and acculturate evidence-based decision-makings and practices. Moreover, the unit aims at improving evidence synthesis and policy analysis through systematic reviews, meta-analysis, tracking progress, undertaking evaluation, and application of advanced analytic techniques.

Goal

The goal of this unit is to synthesize strong evidence on priority public health issues, health economics, emergency responses, progress tracking, measuring national/global targets and health policy analysis. Besides, it aspires to translate evidence to support informed decisions including health strategies, policies and public health practices in Ethiopia.

Major Activities

Identifies priority evidence areas and topics at local, subnational, and national level;
Synthesizes evidence to evaluate the impact of health policies and programs in promoting health and preventing diseases;
Synthesizes evidence on disease prevention, control and health promotion;
Undertakes econometric analysis including cost effectiveness of health interventions, resource allocation, health insurance, national health account;
Synthesizes evidence on disease prevention, control and health promotion;
Synthesizes evidence for early warning, mitigation, control and response of pandemics and epidemics;
Synthesizes evidence on universal health coverage, health extension program, and primary health care, quality of health care, responsiveness of health care services;
Undertake equity, ethical and health disparity analyses on selected health topics;
Tracks and monitors the progress made in HSTP, GTP, SDG and other national, continental and global targets;
Evaluates the status of national public health and health care delivery;
Enhances health policy analysis and informed decision making;
Produces dashboard, evidence briefs, issue briefs, manuscripts and peer-reviewed publications;
Disseminates evidences through different communication outlets (workshop, broadcasted media, and scientific forums) to reach out wider audience;
Facilitates evidence use for decision by MoH, Region Health Bureau and partners;
Establishes evidence use tracking mechanism for regular tracking of evidence use;
Enhances evidence use culture for informed decision at local, national and global levels.
