Gambella Health Atlas, 2021 presents key results from EPHI and IHME collaborative subnational burden of disease analysis as part of the Global Burden of Disease Study 2019 for Gambella, a regional state of Ethiopia. All-cause mortality in Gambella reduced from about 2,360 per 100,000 persons in 1990 to about 1,100 per 100,000 persons in 2019. The number of DALYs has significantly reduced from about 200,000 DALYs in 1990 to 200,000 in 2019. Total fertility declined from 6.2 births per woman in 1990 to 2.8 births per woman in 2019, a 55% change. Of the leading causes of YLLs and YLDs in Gambella in 2019, HIV/AIDS resulting in other diseases, Neonatal encephalopathy due to birth asphyxia and trauma and Malaria are the leading three causes. Child and maternal malnutrition is the source of the greatest number of attributable DALYs, followed by Air pollution. The life expectancy in Gambella increased from 44 years in 1980 to 68 years in 2019. Gambella region population will live, on average, 59 healthy years, with 9 years lived with disability.
