The National Data Management Center for health (NDMC) held a meeting with the International Institute for Primary Health Care-Ethiopia (IIfPHC-E) on June 08, 2021 at EPHI. The meeting was attended by the leaders and technical experts of the two entities. The objectives of the meeting were to have mutual understandings of what the two entities are engaged in and to find common ground for collaboration and partnership. Dr. Alemnesh, coordinator of NDMC welcomed the attendees and has given brief information about NDMC strategies and core functions, current capacity of case teams and multi-disciplinary human resources, major activities, systems and platforms, capacity building, collaborations, and evidence generation and translation endeavours of the center https://ndmc.ephi.gov.et/
Dr. Frehiwot, the director of IIfPHC-E has given information on the four core activities of the institute which include Knowledge Generation and Management, National Primary Health Care support, Global Primary Health Support, and Advocacy and Partnership. She has highlighted the various capacity building and collaboration endeavours at the national and international levels. https://iifphc.org/
Experts from the two entities have added more points for further the discussion. The two entities have expressed their interest to collaborate in capacity building, in advocacy and promotion using web platforms, awareness creation for stakeholders on data ownership and data sharing with MoH leadership, in mapping and archiving of primary Health Care (PHC) data, support in building PHC database, in joint evidence generation and publications. Data driven PHC at global, regional and national levels, the concept Dr. Awoke has brought has been considered for further exploration and discussion. The meeting was adjourned by making some action points for both entities to observe.
